Sharpie Marker Removal?

Like a dumb a$$ I wrote on my white board with a Sharpie, Doah! Anyone remove sharpie from a white board?

Maybe that magic eraser thing by Mr. Clean? My wife uses them on all of the kids stuff.

Or maybe Alcohol.

Alcohol may work, but use it lightly as it may permanently stain the whiteboard. 401 has worked for me when I've screwed up, but I hadn't tried a Sharpie. Gotta remember that one for my office buddies with whiteboards

We have something called Household Spirit that works. Its like 94% clean alcohol (they added something to it to make it undrinkable).

I have used this with success removing permanent marker on my whiteboard before.
Just put some on a microfibre cloth, and rub like it was leftovers from a sticker on a FZ6 fuel tank.

hahaha that's funny. One of my teachers just did the same thing in class last week. It was hilarious to watch him try to erase it before he figured out it was a sharpie..... I was told if you draw over the sharpie with a regular marker and then erase it, then the sharpie will come off. Idk if it works, but it's worth a shot....

i have done this before

If you write over the permanent marker with a dry erase marker it gets most of it off but leaves a little stain.

Expo makes a remover just for that purpose as well. here is a link

A friend of mine's young son got hold of a sharpie one day, and drew all over an LCD computer screen...at the neighbor's house!

He was able to remove it with rubbing alcohol.

Should work here too?

IPA, magic eraser, and even perhaps WD-40 should do the job.

I am a teacher and this happens once and a while...we just use the Expo cleaner or use the dry eraser for a while and it comes off. NEVER use anything like windex or more than 5:1 alcohol mix..it will damage the surface of the board.

Shooo....I used the DE marker, scribbled over the Sharpie, and immediately wiped with a paper towel. It left a very, very faint shadow but my board is saved.

Try a product called Goof Off, works on marker, adhesive, all kinds of stuff.

this has happened a few times at work, i think that people sneak into conference rooms and put permanent markers in there as a joke,

The DE marker does a good enough job.
