:thumbup:soo...

in a round about way, i am responsible for calling on yamaha for business.. after talking to a bunch of people there i got to a mid level exec and she is going to call me later to tell me what the plans (if any) are for the FZ6. I asked if it was being discontinued and I was told that there was no current info on that from their corporate (in japan). She said that she would get me an answer and any info on what future model would be replacing it if that was the case. I also inquired if there was any plans for future upgrades if they do keep it. This lady was awesome and i really hope to hear back from her today about this. I will keep you all in the loop when i get that call

I can't believe this rumor... especially when Yamaha introduced an FZ6R. In addition, it's the same category as their most popular sport bike, the R6... aka, KING of 600.

Just maybe, Yamaha plan to bring out a full 'Balls Out" naked into the market, this may be the reason they are dumbing down the FZ, or getting rid of it altogether...The market is starting to see more aggressive middle weight 600 naked, the Triumph Speed Triple (upsec model) for a start.

Those of us who are into performance orientated nakeds, can only hope!

although i would love to see a balls out version of a naked, i think that the FZ has the makings of it built in. Maybe get the r6 internals back in the engine, put on some decent shocks, upgraded exhaust and tuning, and some flashy colors would turn the FZ6 (As it stands) into a balls out naked IMO.. Why replace something that is already set up to kick so much ass with so little tweaking?

update - ok its only 9:30 am and i still have no call. I get that i called like mid-day yesterday and assume i'll get an answer sometime today or tommarow. like i said though. when i know, you'll all know shortly after :)

They always say they are going to call, but never do....:(

"There was no current information"

I wonder how many times I have used that one?

It means "What a dumb question, how the hell should I know??

Well it does when I use it anyway.

Steve

True or not, I'd be very surprised to hear a definitive answer. News like this is top secret in the industry. It's all about competition and innovation. Otherwise, Kawa or Honda can pickup the leak and counter business strategy. This information will not be released until right before annual dealer meetings to create a buzz and excitement to the industry… around summer time. The best example recently was the new VMAX…. Wow and the FZ6R... hmmmm.
