No offense taken, reality is what it is. But even my FZ had some surface rust because the prior owner lived in Dayton, FL and the salt air kills everything that is metal.

But this bike was garaged kept before, and will be now so I'm not too concerned with that issue. Again my son will keep this bike for maybe a year and then sell it so I'm sure it will still be looking pretty good by then.

With a bit of WD40 maintenance I can't imagine it going bad in that time.

You are correct sir. But the research I did and the opinions I got were that they are decent bikes and fairly reliable. I think it will be a good first bike and it does look pretty awesome for a 250! And when you are 17, style means allot.

It was not a criticism, but an observation based on personal experience. Mine had no problems at all.

I funny thing happened to me today! NOT!

I transfer a tag from my XS 1100 to my sons UM 250 this morning. So I'm walking out of the tag agency and I decided to give my son a call, because it was before he leaves for school, to tell him he can put the tag on the bike and ride it to school if he wants.

Well he did that, and then I get a call (While I'm on the phone with his Mother) from Ted and he tells me the tag fell off the bike on the way to school and he can't find it, and he is now tardy, and he needs a note, and how is he going to ride home now, and I tell my wife whats up, and she goes off :rant: on it being semester finals week, and he can't miss 1st period, and did he miss first period, and.....well you get the picture. And I'm like "I know it is all my fault, so what do you propose I do right now when I'm 50 miles away at work?":don'tknow:

So, I'm growing a new butt right now:spank:, LOL, and the next time I get a "gee, wouldn't this be nice idea!" moment, I will try to think on how it could possibly go horribly wrong.

No worries, man. Its all good. I know all on the board mean well. I went through all of it in my head first before making the decision. I appreciate the opinions and input.

No, it is a Hyosung that is rebranded by the import company into the US. The stock pipe muffler had Hyosung on it.

But i knew that going in, and again, while the Koreans are not at the Japanese bike level, their quality is improving, and is supposed to be better than the Chinese bikes.

So, it was the typical Style/Performance/Quality/Price balancing act. But the bike has good power, nice handling, though I'm not into the riding position, good style and features. The guy we bought if from said it would do 100 mph, which aint bad for a 250cc.

I'll keep all posted on its performance over the next year.
