Yes, unfortunately market size and "pricing what the market will bear" are the major factors here, not "cost plus a reasonable profit".

Hard for me to justify as well, as much as I'd like to. Just can't swing it until fleaBay or CraigsList comes to my rescue with a killer deal. I'm patient.

there was a whole post up and everything on the r1 to fz slip ons on here or sportbike.net. the major problem they ran into was the cans where huge, hanging out the back like a good couple inches farther than stocker.

the tires, unlike the exhaust, are expensive because there are only two and your a$$ depends on them staying together while you go 100mph so they are a little over built. the other tires that are crazy expensive too are air plane tires, for obviouse reason.

R1 pipes stock or aftermarket will work,yes they do stick out a bit but it's no worse than leo's or arakopovic's,there's a video on youtube from some french dude(not wavex).

I am keeping my eye on some stock cans on ebay. They look like they can be easily modded to make them not stick out any more than the stock fz6 exhaust. Also I have a motorcyle junk yard near my house. This is what I will prob. do and I will post my progress and mods on the forum.

I really like the single GYTR can they use on the FZ6 cup bikes....has anyone else thought of doing this....i have, but like my TB's too much.

I agree, it's really cool but the problem is the tail piece to accomidate a single muffler. I prefer to keep the stock seating configuration vs. a solo.

I reckon you could still keep the OEM tail piece, but with slight modification, underneath the tail light.

It does stick out a bit further than normal pipes, but that may be different with the OEM tail piece, rather than the Racers Edge race glass seat mount/tail piece.

I like twin pipes...it's a good look...those R1 pipes look pretty sick. I wonder if there's any better quality vids of the sound...are the R1 pipes straight through or what?

Yes R1's are straight through titanium glasspacks,you can get a race baffle kit on ebay for $90-130,baffle kits come w/ packing,"race" baffles,and rivets.

+1 on that! Even the aftermarket stuff is ultra discounted compared to FZ6 cans...

That's what I noticed too, in my exhaust adventures. I'd be finding all these good prices on yamaha pipes, but they'd be R1... Why fz's so dang expensive?

we talked about this earlier in the thread. We think mostly it comes down to an economies of scale thing. Not as many FZ6's out there as there are r6's and R1's. Plus we have 2 can's so the exhaust companies say "oh well there are 2 so it has to be twice the cost" even though that's a load of shiat.
