TJ Has finally got me worried!

The violence down in Mexico, specifically in Tijuana has finally got me scared. It used to be that the violence only followed those who were involved in it. Now, shootings occur at any time day or night, and at any place. I can't afford coming back to San Diego yet, STBX is trying to squeeze every nickel out of my pocket.

This is where my FZ6 kicks in. I have been riding very agressive and as fast as safely possible. I try to stay in low gears should anything come up I should be out of harms way quickly, not as fast as a speeding bullett, but close.

Dude I don't blame you. TJ makes Baghdad look safe. Please be careful and watch your six.

I was in SD over the weekend and there was a great deal of talk about all of the action down there.

Hey folks. It seems to go beyond that. It would seem crime here in San Diego has risen but you don't hear it on the news because it would probably hurt tourism which has a little to to do with our economy. I live in a part of San Diego where car theft has gone through the roof but the authorities aren't talking about it.

We have some of the sweetest rides here. I also commute year round on the bike.

I stopped ever thinking about going to Mexico a long time ago. There are some real horror stories from down there. They don't have anything there that we don't.....

I can totally relate. I lived in San Diego county for about 13 years. I was involved in a freak incident in TJ about 15 years ago which left 3 of my friends injured. We could have easily died that night. And things have only deteriorated since then. And not that San Diego is much safer. Hell, even in the GOOD neighborhoods, there's F-18's falling out of the sky!!!

I've been to Baghdad, and I've been to Tijuana. I think I feel ten times safer in Baghdad!!!

I've been living in TJ for about ten years now. I've never had any complaints or problems, well actually a few, but nothing related to violence. Being that you could get away with pretty much anything, I've always followed the rules. Look for trouble and for sure you will find it. Keep it cool and you will have a great time. I hope things get under control soon, It's really a nice place to live, and cheap!

hey, yea, funny, I didn't see this post until after I re-asked about conditions there on your other thread. so this gives me an idea.

Is it safe to pass through to head to a gated area just 10 mins north of Rosarito via the toll road? I heard shootings took place after the Baja 1000. Not sure if I'd want to head down there anymore which sucks for their tourism.

I would worry about other things, like crazy taxi drivers and dogs running around everywhere. Lately the mexican armed forces are roaming around, this has helped quite a bit. When are you coming down? Are you riding your FZ6, if so, remember that you can take the sentri lane down and go thru the other lanes once you get down to the yellow poles.
