Hi everyone. Here is a link to my mom's website that I'm currently building.

www.maryjodurand.com

Can you review it and post your comments here? And don't worry...I had to learn html from scratch, so don't go light on the comments...I can take it. So far I've noticed that if you have a low resolution on your computer monitor, the site displays weird. Hopefully everyone has a generally new monitor with the display settings set higher.

The website is dedicated to my mom's art. Thanks for looking/reviewing!

Very quick site. Initial homepage is too wide on 1024*768 because of the writing (in Firefox anyway), so may need the text wrapping. Nice and fast loading though, especially the gallery/. Very nicely set out and easy to navigate. Also may need text wrapping on your biography page btw, sorry I never notcied on first view.

It looks good. I first did webpages 20 years ago and did them as a small side business for a while. The color scheme and minimilist approach of the pages in my opinion is a great way to go. It looks very professional. Too often people try to display too much information and it ends up looking like a car covered in bumper stickers.

I'm not sure if it is planned or not but on the front page and bio pagefor me the home link is in the center and the bio and gallery are off to the left on the line below but on the gallery page they are all centered. Looks like you removed a frame to make more room for the pics maybe? If so you have to decide whats more important the room or the continutiy of the site.

Also you can consider masking the email address with I think its the mailto: command. It will be harder for people to get the emaila ddress and spam it if its hiden and therefor not as accessable to searches.

And yes the bio page text for me is also displaying in one long column not utilizing the entire page.

Edit: sorry for all the typos leaving work and in a hurry.

That might be why. There are various javascript routines that will detect resolution and allow you to resize the page depending on the browser/resolution people are using. These are scripts that you embed in your HTML. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction on that.

Cheers

I think it looks good so far. I am more into colors and designs when it comes to websites, but looking professional is something considerable depending on the porpouse of the site. Good Job!

might be blocked at work or something, but the gallery looks blank for me? Other 2 pages look good though.

I will look again when i get home.

yea, gallery isn't working for me either...keeps saying I need flash and I have it...the coding might have gone bad when I added a Google feature. bleh

can you run 2 scripts on the same page?

I like the web page - looks good - very clean.

If you are in the market for some software to help the process, Frontpage is some pretty good - allows you to set up some nice web pages - if you wanted to make an investment. We use it for our dog food delivery service that we run. Updates and changes to the site are pretty simple.
