I have the Scorpion CF slip-on's for my FZ6. Is it worth gutting the cat/mid pipe.

A straight pipe will give you more hp since it reduces the back pressure.
How many hp I don't really know, but have read it is just a few.
The question you should also consider is the additional pollution in uncombusted hydrocarbons you will emit by eliminating the cat pipe.
While anyone can argue on an individual basis it does not matter, collectively it does.
Your choice.

I'm waiting to see a dyno sheet on this mod. CATs are so good these days a straight pipe doesn't do a whole lot.
Many years ago a car magazine removed a CAT off of a GTI and replaced it with a CAT by-pass pipe, the car made three LESS hp and the torque curve was not as strong.
On the enviro note, for me, I have a hard time justifying a possible one hp gain for more smog. Also remember for the '07+ there are two CATs in the header.
The stock exhaust system is very good, just looks and sounds funny to me.
Oh and the stock CAT pipe is about $450.00.

I did this a few weeks ago and did not notice any significant change in volume or performance. Not to say that there is NO change. Maybe if you combined with higher flow exhaust and decent air filter with pciii.

I eliminated my cat with the pipe that came with my Leo's,maybe I should have tried it with the stock cans first to see if there is a difference .

Like someone else said - I doubt that eliminating that cat would have any results good or bad; except to wreck your emmissions if you have to have a regular check.
The catalytic converters nowadays are hardly restrictive anymore at all. Not like the early ones. In my view you just waste your time & effort plus $!

Is it only the '07 and up that have the three cats? I cannot say that I ever checked my '05 that closely. Removing three would just suck!
At the interection of the header where it goes from 4 into 2. In the 2 section there is a bulge. Each bulge is a cat.

I've been looking around, and it really seems that CAT's do not affect performance much at all.
Removing them doesn't do much other than allow poisons through ....
