I REALLY want a motorcycle and right now the fz6 is my top pick. Is it worth it???

I'm on my second one, so I say yes.:thumbup:
this is my 3rd bike and by far my favorite! You will be hard pressed to find someone on this forum that disagrees with the statement that the FZ6 is in fact one of the best middleweight, performance oriented, sport touring motorcycle.

If you stay to the lower half of the RPM range it is very easy to ride. Once you get it above 8K PRM you better be careful, thats when the beast inside awakes

Gotcha. How long does it take to learn to ride well???

I'm only fourteen... Ive been looking into these things extensively for about three years now though. Just wondering. my dad used to ride but my mom was in a crash once so shes a bit iffy
I am guessing that the 93 in his name is his birth year, making him about 16?
Definitely take the course, and to answer your question... You never get good enough at riding, you will always have something to learn, and if you keep that in mind then you should be fine.

Yes - it is a great bike. Just remember that every time you get on a bike - your life is in danger and pretend like nobody can see you when they should. If you respect that and physics, it will help to keep you safe. - my 2 cents

HELL YEAH , Thats what im talking bout !!!! But seriously Horizon93 plz be careful they are a wonderful machine but like u've been warned , stay in the lower rev range whilst learning , it will only end in tears...:rockon:

The FZ will serve you well as a beginner bike. I see you are 14 and trying to convince you partens to let you get one! Good luck with that. If you do happen to get them on your side make sure that you do all the right things. Take the MSF course, buy all the gear and by all means ride safe. Motorcycles are a lot of fun when ridden in a safe manner.

my dads all for it but my mom has ultimate power or something like that...
I've got a couple years before i make any decisions cuz im gonna buy a car first

I was in the same boat as you at 14-15. Planned to get a bike right at 16 but did not work out. Well I'm 17 now and got my fz6 a few weeks ago. The fz6 is is a inline4 so it has some beefy power which you will need to respect. I've ridden dirtbike sense the age of 12 and rode a wide variety of them and this bike can scare me when I ride it.
I made this purchase on my own with no financial help from the rents (Parents) and if this is gonna be a case for you I would look into insurance and registration and plate fees for your area/state. I got a used 06 for about 3500 and my insurance is 400 a year for liability and comprehensive. Full would be in the 700-1100 range for me cause of my age, same most likely for you.
And finally the MSF is the way to go (Not to mention if your 16-17 your required to take it for a endorsement in most states). But note it only gets you the basics and you will need to take it slow.

yeah. My parents will help me with a car but not this. I'm thinking about getting a cheap dirt bike to learn the basics till i can afford a street one. Thanks for the tips.

Enduro would be a good option if you wanna get into dirt biking and have some street possibilities later on.
Yamha introduced some kick-ass ones this year.

Kawasaki has some nice ones too.
Dirt bikes are great to learn how to balance, shift, and ride, but be careful, many of the riding techniques that can cause issues when you transfer them to the street, turning, braking, sliding the rear, and many other aspects that you do on dirt will not work the same on the road.
But the balance, shifting and basic bike operation will help.
Take the local MSF course, many of them let you use their bikes and will get you a bit of seat time to knwo if you actually even want to ride.... then get an FZ6!!!
