That is how I did it. I didn’t use the wire tap, I just stuffed the wire into the bottom of the plug, neatly, and slid it back on the bulb. I did the same for the "driver’s side." I have put 400 miles on my bike that way and have not had any problems yet. I will need to make it more permanent. Now I don’t get the, "you have a head light out," anymore. I did try a silverstar H7 in the "passenger side" head light and found out that they don’t fit the factory harness. The terminals are closer together on the H7 than the stock bulb, I was bummed out. But the H4 Silverstar I bought for the "drivers side" worked out awesome! Having both low beams is great for night riding.
