years and their colors

New to this site but i got a question about color. And yes I have searched but maybe I just didn't put in the right search terms.


I have an r6 and I'm thinking of selling it. I hear the fz6 is a great commuter bike while still being able to handle the twistys.

What I'm wondering is what the changes in colors are between the years. According to the yamaha site, only the 2007 is supposed to be available in team yamaha blue but I've seen plenty of 06 on craigslist or ebay in team yamaha blue. Is it offered in any other years?

one thing you may want to consider besides color is that the '07-'08's actually have a few upgrades over the older ones.

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, I was definitely confused about the blue and team yamaha blue. My current r6 is team yamaha blue and the regular blue is supposed to be a darker hue.

On a side note, there are definitely differences between the 06 and 07. What real world difference is there between the 2?

On October 10, 2006 Yamaha Motor Company announced an updated FZ6 for the 2007 model year.[1]

The FZ6 receives the following revisions:

Optimized fuel injection (FI) system mapping.
Redesigned fairing and windscreen.
New instrument cluster with analog tachometer and digital speedometer (similar to the FZ1).
New four-piston monoblock brake calipers for the front brake.
Alumite-finished front forks with revised damping.
A 3-way catalytic converter.
A new seat design.
A new rear swingarm.
New passenger pegs.

The 2004 to 2006 is Galaxy Blue and far different than Yamaha Blue. It also has a mauve hue to it in the sun. The front fender and side covers are a like Navy (very dark) blue as well. They are not black as was listed back then.

Does anyone know if the 04 and 05 silver are the same. I know the 04 is listed as liquid silver and the 05 is cerulean silver...but are they the same color?
