Yamaha's answer on the FZ6

I think that is a bit premature to say until a few tests have been done on it.

The only test I have read so far was very favourable.

well the fz6r isnt available in europe, and theres no comparably model for europe, so if the fz6 would be killed off, and they'd point us to the xjr?
I think Kawasaki with their er-6f or suzuki would be happy to hear that,
as the xjr is just a crappy version of the fz6..

although i would love to see a balls out version of a naked, i think that the FZ has the makings of it built in. Maybe get the r6 internals back in the engine, put on some decent shocks, upgraded exhaust and tuning, and some flashy colors would turn the FZ6 (As it stands) into a balls out naked IMO.. Why replace something that is already set up to kick so much ass with so little tweaking?

I would never trade my fz6 in for that thing,
aside from the looks, the specs aren't great as well..

I don't have an issue the power reduction. If the bike is good it Will l sell itself.
Like Steve I would never say never. So far the road tests haven't slated it.

soo... the voice mail i got from Yamaha is as follows:

"Currently there are no plans in place to end production of the FZ6 model line in the North American Market at the end of this year (2009). There will be a reduction in production of bikes due to the current downturn in the economy, but that does not mean an end to the product line. There are some basic ideas in the process of being discussed about what the updates will be for the FZ6 model line for the year 2010. Currently there is no plan on offering a more sport-touring oriented model. As far as accesories, due to the current economic climate, there are no plans on expanding the factory accessories program for the FZ6. (she did mention that there will be more accessories available for the R1 and R6 i.e. race ready parts, but none for the FZ6 or FZ1). "

so thats the update I got from Yamaha North America. doesnt look like the bike will be going under in the next few years, especially if there is talks about what the updates will be for 2010. She did mention that all of this was not set in stone due to the current economic situation (she loved to talk about the bad economy). So it looks like the FZ6 will be safe for at least a few more years.

I will be talking to yamaha for the next few months about stuff for my job. so if I get any updates I'll let you all know (mind you that it is yamaha north america and not yamaha corporate so who knows how much info they give them)
