Yamaha make a loss

The news on Harley was out last week... cut 1100 jobs.

Goodness! Forbid we lower the price on those overpriced hogs.

Actually I had hopes the Indian Motorcycle company would give H.D. some competition to force a lower price or at minimum stimulate some R&D. Too bad they both think the same in regards to price.

$30,999* for the Chief Standard... give me a break.

BMW actually managed a slight increase, which considering the poor 4th quarter economy really says something.
How does that phrase go??? Make a better product and the market will beat a path to your door.

I say it's tough to compare BMW with the rest of the top market brands like Harley, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki... etc. Their market share on the industry is only a blip on the radar. It's like comparing Ferrari sales against the auto industry. Honestly, the loyal fan base for BMW and Ducati are probably not affected by the economy... yet.

Speaking of Ducati, believe it or not, had a increase of 22% last year. Yet, I hardly see any on the street.

That's what I was saying in another post. Statistics on specific segments, or more obscure brands don't really paint the picture. They just give you an idea on trends. Showing a 100% increase in sales sounds impressive, until you understand that their were only 5 units sold the previous year...
