Ozzie and Harriet was satire and this would not have been acceptable to Ozzie. The Donna Read show was satire and it would not have been acceptable to Donna. My Three Sons was satire and those boys would never have portrayed women in this light. Oh Suzanna was satire and Suzanna would have thrown the Captain overboard had he attempted to treaten her in this manner.

This clip was not satire. Rather, I choose to believe it was some writer's poor attempt at paralleling the past in a manner that was likely to have been very true long before the era portrayed in the clip. Universally this was known as woman's suffrage and in a manner of speaking it continues today.
Charlie you would have to see the entire show to get the real theme of the various scetches portrayed.
Harry Enfiled and Paul Whitehouse are credited with numerous writting and producing awards. I beleive that what makes their work work. It that they take the pi$$ out of themselves.
I can honestly say that Finboz meant no malice or harm by it. One mans satire & humor may be offensive to another. For instance a while ago a video was posted about a muslim terrorist puppet. t was widley received as being brilliant by many forum members. I have many Muslim friends and I found the wild genralisation about their faith and culture offensive. We just got to live and let live.

Neil, I have no problem with the opinions of folks here but stand back a moment and check out the reality of it all. The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Calgary, Canada. At present they have built a wonderful ski jumping facility. In years past women have been bared from this sport in Olympic competition because it was felt this was too dangerous (yeah but they can run a downhill at 70mph right). So, the IOC has once again bared women from competing. Woman have however been testing there.

At present women from the United States and Canada have filed a formal complaint with the IOC and the issue may in fact wind up in court. The IOC answer is simply that there are not enough women from the international community to make it an international event, which is wrong. When snowboarding was introduced in the games there were 34 women that could qualify as experts in the sport. At present, there are 80 woman from around the globe that are qualified to jump at a professional level. This issue is not going away and the IOC will be held accountable.

My point to all this is simply that as long as we or the entertainment industry make light of the actual discriminations women face it will remain an acceptable form of behavior to laugh at or make fun of. On a personal note I have faced this for years with bikes. People thought I was nuts for allowing my daughter to ride a 125cc dirt bike and now she faces the same issues as folks think she is crazy for allowing our grand daughter to ride in the dirt and she has been doing it since age 5; she is now 8.

 You have a valid point Charlie and I respect it totally. Infact I am in full support for equlity for everyone as I am sure does finboz.

Hi Bill,
