Wind Deflectors...the perfect Winter Mod!

One thing to keep in mind is the fact that he's got a naked. You'd need to factor in bar clearance to the front fairing at full lock. You may not be able to use the steering lock if you can't get the bars turned all the way.

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm still processing my decision on doing this.

Canadian FZs have an optional fairing block that sits above the headlights and to the outside of the windscreen. I'm not sure how much good it does though, and I doubt they're cheap.

I think this is a great idea! Does anyone know which model will work for my '08? Mounting kit needed? I'm not sure if I need to look for snowmobile or dirt bike guards... for my aftermarket bars... Yeah, I'm an idiot... :squid: ,but I'm trying really hard? ?

I installed the Powermadd Handguards (Star series) on my 08 FZ6. You have to buy the guards and mount kit separately but I found the mount kit on twistedthrottle.com for $7.50. I have the sw-motech bar riser/barback installed and I can turn the bars fully and lock them as well. Without the riser-barback installed you will not be able to lock the bars. The guards do a great job of wind protection.

One note: the mounts allow you to install them either over the top or under the bar. The best option seemed to be to install it over since the mount doesn't hit any of the wires or cables coming into the controls that way.

Sweet. I'm looking at getting some "bar-back's", any chance you could post a pic with the wind deflectors on??

Cheers.

:)

Here are some pics. Sorry for the bugs/dirt on the bike. ...uh, and the missing left mirror (on order), doh!

You can see in the 3rd photo that the bars are in the lock position and the handguard is still not touching the fairing.

aj, where did you buy the Handguards?

Thanks,

John

I bought the handguards on ebay ~$30 but I've also seen them at my local shops. If they carry any dirt bike accessories they will probably have these as well.

Bugger, just realized that the '08's have the narrow windshield, so I don't think they'd fit on my '04.

:(

Stumbles, if you like i can bring mine down to your place and we could do a trial fit, so you can be sure....let me know if you wanna do that.

You betcha...along with heated grips, absolutely essential for regular winter riding.......no more chillblanes in the fingers, and they suck!

Looking through the latest AMCN (Vol 58 #25) on Page 106, there is a Barkbuster "storm" advert.

Basically storm guards, like Wolfy's ones, but made by barkbusters.
And it features a FZ1 in the add.

WEBPAGE

do you know whether they will fit the FZ6?
