Haven't ridden on the road in 20 years? I'd go with the Fz6, it's more forgiving of the little things that happen as you build experience. GOOD LUCK! GRUMPY

So far, so good! I am very pleased with my decision to go with the FZ1. It has plenty of low speed, low rpm grunt and is very responsive in every gear. I haven't even ventured up in the high rpm range yet. I put some new grips on yesterday (ProGrip Gel). What a difference! I kept having the sensation that my hands were slipping off the stock grips. Since I'm used to my MX grips, I wanted something with some more bite. These also took away some of the vibration. The look pretty cool too!
