What to do with your helmet?

take it with me always

its my personal protection dont if someone kicks it without me knowing then thats the impact protection stuffed for when need it (but I hope i never do need it !!!)

I always take it with me. I have it's bag always with me, justput it inside and carry it all the time. I wouldn't leave my 700Euro helmet alone anywhere!!!:thumbup:

50/50 take it with me and lock it to the bike...

my bike locks a bit differently than the fz, so there isn't a lot of room to get to the straps to cut them, but if i will be away for a long time, or can't see the bike, i'll usually bring it in with me. if i can keep an eye on things, i'm more likely to leave it. also, if it is damp/foggy, i iwll bring it with me no matter what, cause there is nothing worse than a wet helmet....

I use a wire lock and hang it on the rear footpegs

Depends on the place. If I can see the bike, it sits on the rear pegs. If I'm going in for a while, I take it with me. If I leave it for a while and it's really inconvenient to take it, I lock it up with a 'beener under the seat.

same exact situation for me. it all depends really for how long and how far that i will be away from the bike. i barely ever take it with me inside tho. and i always lock it at school with my jacket.

what i do is:

never take the helmet off. i walk into the restaurant and eat my whole meal while wearing the helmet.

I've been leaving/securing it to the helmet lock quite a bit lately at the area casino parking lots (and in many retailer lots too). Many Harley owners, I've noticed, just let the helmet sit on the seat or hang it off a handlebar..at least in the casino lots. And since Harley owners number about 80% of bikers one can see a hecka lot of helmets just sitting on seats, hanging off handlebars, etc. It's amazing. I've said before that I think it should be---since wearing a helmet is legally required---for retailers, malls, etcl., to provide an area for us to deposit our helmets (some already do this for handbags, backpacks). I mean, if a business is going to provide parking spaces, why not accomodate motorcylists by: 1) designating a motorcyle parking area located in a prominent area, and; 2) having a depository for helmets (in Europe this is not rare)

I've heard that Cat Crap is a good visor fog preventer.

I take mine with me every time. That being said, once I finally get a topcase, it will go in there, unless I'm either coming in to the office or home.

I think this question really depends on where you're at. I live in Ohio so... yeah, i can leave it on the bike almost any place I go. I also think that it depends on how long you're going to be gone. If I'm going to be a while I'll lock it up. I don't like to carry around my helmet, especially if my fiance is with me because that means I will be carrying two helmets.

Now that I have the FZ6, I lock it up, but on the old bike I'd just stick it on one of the handlebars. (even though I know you shouldn't do that) My helmet isn't that great, and I have my eye on a Shoei, so if it should happen to fall....

If I am at home in my home town or where my folks live it just sits there anywhere else I lock it or take it depending.

Plain and simple, if I feel the area is safe or I'm popping in somwhere quickly, it goes straight on the passenger foot peg. But like one poster said, I paid good money and I won't leave it around freely so some dumb a$$ can steal it.

Have to invest in some sort of helmet lock!

Most of the time I leave it on my foot peg. Maybe I've been extremely lucky. I have locked it up a few depending where I'm at. However, if I'm in my home town, I normally just leave it on my foot peg, right one to be exact.
