What is this thing around the ignition lock

Can any of my European brothers tell me what is this black thing around the ignition lock and how can it be removed..

Fairly sure its the sensor doohicky that recognizes your key as you insert it.

anyone knows if it can be removed and how... any help please..

That thing is the immobilizer

as far as I understand it (I have been told my my mechanic) it comes from the factory secured by four special nuts that go from bottom to top, they are special because when they are torqued they lost their heads
