Which one? In a previous life I worked for Hartmann and Braun as the product manager for the Contronic P and Digimatik DCS systems.

It's a Honeywell Experion / Honeywell TDC 3000 hybrid. It's a pretty good setup. I like the idea of having an experience blend of IT and process controls. I only have 2+ years on this system, I can't wait until I get 5 years. Before this job DCS was a small part of my job, I used to be an Instrument and Control tech, now it's just control, no more tools or field work.

I'm a writer.

I also do assorted editorial jobs, mainly for travel publishing. And I'm going to be starting a degree in International Development in the autumn.

I am a construction estimator - nothing exciting there. I've been doing it for 12 years. I basically just measure walls, ceilings, cladding etc for commercial buildings.

Tell me what you do and for how long you've been doing it. :D

I do software user interaction design (the engineers make it, I make it usable). I like my job. I'm a bit of a generalist by nature and this suits me perfectly -- a little bit of art/design, a little psychology/sociology/cultural anthropology, and a fair amount of technical stuff.

we have a motors division and was actually going out for it. went and got my endorsement in the rain and talked the lady into letting me take the test in the rain (big no no here) and wound up totalling my bike on the way there from some idiot turnin in front of me. so i took that as a sign and dropped the offer. plus all they do is write ticket and work wrecks and that is the 2 things i hate the most!

Yes, bad sign. LOL....

You're right about the motor patrol, except for the occasional escorts, all the cops here in Vegas just write tickets & respond to traffic accidents. But they do a very good job, they got me last year. But they seem to go down quite a bit. I always here them getting wiped out by all the careless drivers here in town.

After 33+ years working in a pulp & paper mill, 20 years of it as a power plant operator, I'm retiring from that job March 1st and going to work full time as a technical writer (I've worked part time for this company for a couple of years), writing about power plants of all kinds, starting March 1st.

I work for an High End Audio/Video company. Been here about 5 years. We put expensive control and Audio/Video systems in all the rich people's 2nd and 3rd multi million dollar homes. I do everything from design (using AutoCad) to pulling all the wire needed, to installing the equipment. We do alot of work in the ski resort areas here in Utah.

I also have a part-time business doing the same thing, just on a smaller scale. One day I hope to do this as my full-time gig. Check out my website if you like. Beyond Audio - Home

I do some DJing as well.

I love what I do. Get to play with expensive electronics that I can never afford.

IT professional, - primarily Project management and development. Been at it for 20+ years now.
On the side I DJ, both mobile and in clubs.

So you DJ. I'm sure you are better at it than I am. I only do it a few times a year. What kind of equipment do you have? Any pointers you can give someone without much experience?

Wow TDC 3000 is a name I haven't seen in a long time! Honeywell were my biggest competition when I was in the DCS sales game.

I also started life as an instrument tech, worked on a lot of Foxboro and Kent pneumatic stuff. We had the Foxboro Spec 200 control system which was the forerunner of modern DCS. We had hordes of Model 40 and Model 43A indicating controllers, Fisher and Masoneilan valves and positioners, Bently-Nevada machine monitoring and a host of other makes and types.

I never got the chance to do any PLC work as we just got our first Allen-Bradley device a week before I changed my career to sales early in 1984.

I graduated college up here at the University of Maine in May of 2008 with a degree in Civil Engineering and have been working at a small engineering firm ever since. Not a bad gig really. The best part is that they don't care all that much if I take my fz when I have to go visit a construction site somewhere!!! (what they don't know won't hurt them)

Equipment .... long one coming up :)

For my Club gigs, I do a mix of MP3 and CD based, so I bring 2 Pioneer CDJ-1000, and my old, cheap but reliant Hercules DJ Console RMX. I then use the House mixer. Also I bring 2 laptops, and 2 portable harddrive(my MP3's).
I'm going to give the American Audio Radius 3000 a go, - but I havent been able to find a local store that has them on display yet, and I really need to get a hands-on before i retire my CDJ's.

For my mobile gigs, I bring the above plus an Allen & Heath XONE:4D mixer, my speaker setup is the JBL JRX 115 + JBL JRX 118 (plus a set of JBL JRX 125 for bigger venues). I use CROWN amplifiers.

For light, I have a rather simple rig, 8 PAR36 LED, 1 American Sunray Triled and one American DJ Sunray. All is DMX controlled by a Daslight DVC 2 DMX 512 controller.
I also bring a fog-machine, - a small 700Watt one, - can't remember the name of it, - but it was cheap :)

But sure,- if you got any questions just shoot, - I will answer to my best ability :)
