What cover to buy???

I'm looking for a cover to protect the '08 FZ6 (AKA the Blue Banshee) from the elements. Anyone have any recommendations for type/brand/size?

I need one too. I saw them on Ebay for under $20 but I'm sure you get what you pay for. Mine stays in the garage but we about to go to the mountains for a week and want to make sure it get's covered at night.

Your Avatar a C172? I think I got about 500 hrs in Single Engine and most was in C172 and C152. I'm driving a Hawker800XP now. That is how a get a pay check.

Yep- it's a C-172 behind my silly mug- but the Hawker sounds WAY more fun, especially when a paycheck is involved. My paycheck involves mostly the rear end of Air Force C-17's.

Regarding the cover for the FZ6, I may go with the Nelson-Rigg Deluxe All-Season. Seems to be a good balance of quality & price. Pretty good customer reviews on motorcyclesuperstore-dot-com.

My fav cover that I have on my bike and that my father uses on his bike is a Dowco Weatherall Plus. Greg is right when he says that you get what you pay for. My father has a BMW R1150GSA and he has thrown that thing over numerous times right after a ride and its never melted (the engine is a boxer type, heads stick out the sides). Also they have a lifetime warrentee so if it starts to tear, send it back.

I use the Yamaha FZ6 cover and love it. It's very well made and obviously fits the bike well. It does fit right over my giant First Gear tank bag and Cortech Sport tail bag. Also have thrown it on many times right after a ride with no melting, but I have stock exhaust which doesn't really get that hot. Haven't seen scratches or rubbing on the bike from the cover either.

The only complaint I have it that it's bulky - the material is thick and it doesn't fold up very small.

Yeah I use the Yamaha cover too. I guess it is a bit expensive but its pretty tough.

For heaven sake don't buy one from WAL-MART. The ones there aren't very good at all. It works well enough to keep little bastards from egging your bike (which happened to my bike that's why I bought one from there) other than that it is OK for the money I guess. It is far from weather proof and does not fit to well. Good luck on your search. By the way they sell the same one at AUTOZONE so steer clear of there also.........:spank::spank::spank:

I'll check mine when I visit the bike again. Its currently being use on a GS500 (which I'm trading in on the FZ). Its light, its strong, its shaped, its silver grey and bought for me as a present here in Oz.

+ 1, what Travis said. I leave mine at work, don't use it everyday, but when I do, comes in handy. Riding home that night was a bitch.

+1 on the Yamaha OEM cover. It's custom fit and well made, fits nice and tight so no worries about it blowing off. Whichever you get I reccomend a tip, get a cable lock to go with it. Most have little straps/loops sewn on the left and right bottum sides you can thread the cable lock through. There are dirtbags who will steal even the cover off your bike being they are kinda high priced items. Also helps prevent it from blowing loose too.

I ended up going with the Dowco cover, it's pretty sweet. Just fits over my 2005 FZ6 with a Givi E360 topcase. Highly recommended.

I realise this thread is ancient....but. Considering getting the oxford one (saw one on my street and it seemed nice and high qual) - what size do you use?

I have to say I like the FZ cover. I have the original cover the previous owner got with the bike and it still looks new granted the PO only used it once in a while as he had a garage. I have not had a garage and the bike has been outside for three summers now and the cover has no fading or rips whatsoever. I don't cover the bike hot usually wait an hour or two. The bike is covered unless i'm riding it...usually nights and weekends as i rarely ride to work (4mi is not worth putting the gear on).

This cover fits snugly over the givi rack (almost like it was made to) and comes down to just below the brake disks. Would be perfect if it went to the ground but I guess it provides some more ventilation.
