On June 22nd I will be leaving for my yearly bike trip. I believe this will be the 11th year in a row.

My question is, all the years in the past I have rode a cruiser. This year, since we are going to spend a night at Deal Gap, (Dragons Tail), I am going to take the FZ6, (the Fizzer has to be 1000% more fun than the Fatboy on the Dragon Tails). After Deal Gap, I will have 5 more days of riding 300 to 400 miles a day.

So, what is 8 300 to 400 miles days going to be like on the FZ6? There is no interstate until day 7 and 8 on the home, so that should help.

Thanks for the input...

Interesting . . . I'm in the same position. First year off a cruiser. Last summer I took my Aero 1100 to GA. I'm considering maybe north to Newfoundland this year, and I'm eager to compare the FZ6 to past rides.

I say go for it - I'm over 50 and ride to work every day and would jump on the opportunity to do that.

Last summer I rode from Birmingham to Longboat Key which is near Sarasota. Rode down on Thursday evening and Friday morning and then came back on Sunday - 620 miles in one day. Wasn't bad going down but 620 miles in one day was a lot. I stopped often but was quite tired at the end of the day. The FZ did great - seems like it ran better after the trip than before. Standing up on the pegs when my but got tired helped. Back roads are much better than the interstate. Stock seat with a tank bag and a duffel bag strapped on the back. At the start the goal was to stop every two hours but did ride almost 4 hours one time. Hope to do it again this year but will stay at the beach longer!

I would not mind to do with FZ6 at all.
Try to keep lube chain daily, and if possible avoid to ride on the windy day interstate with heavy luggage.
Otherwise, it's going to be epic journey.
Safe ride for you.
And don't forget to give us some photos.

It`s going to be tough.
Maybe some bike shorts to help with your butt and a throttle miester, or throttle boss so you can rest your throttle hand.

ps; If you have any problems with your back, it might be a good idea to have some sort of waist band in your pack.

Good luck and ride smart.

The Dragon is closed from the Tennessee side because of a rock slide at the foot of the Foot Hills Parkway. You can still ge there through N Carolina. Check their web sight for info and when the Tennessee side will reopen.
