Had a close call today. The bike's been languishing in the garage with all the icy weather, but I took it out today for a blast in the sunshine. Lovely country road, and I left it in third gear as I accelerated up to around 12,000rpm - the exhaust changes tone and makes this lovely melodic booming sound around 9k and just gets louder and louder. Harshly resonant, and utterly hair-raising.
There was a blind bridge ahead so I got hard on the brakes in case there was anything on the other side, popped over the top of it, and there ahead of me is a police car heading towards me. He would have heard me coming from a couple of miles away at those revs, and if I hadn't braked I'd have done a [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t97YOVNeYZ8]TT style flypast[/ame].
