Tonight, I was in the house and Danny and the kids were outside flying airplanes. Danny comes in the house and says Buster (our boxer) needs stitches. I looked down at his front leg and there was an abrasion, he had torn all of his fur off, but it didn't actually break skin. I just looked at Danny and said, "come on, are you kidding me, he doesn't need stitches." He asked me what the f I was smoking. I looked at his back leg and his skin is just hanging. It was an L shape, about a 1"x 2 1/2" cut. It turns out that he had been running along the fence with another dog (that was outside of the fence).....there were 3" bolts sticking out from the fence for the hinges and he snagged his leg on two of them (I found skin and fur on the bolts) it just tore the skin and didn't cut the meat....so I call the after hours emergency pet hospital and they tell me that it's going to cost me between $900 and $1600, I was speechless and just hung up. We were going to try and stitch him up ourselves, but it would've taken too long and his skin was way too tough. This dog is a tough MF, he didn't yelp, whine or anything.....so we decided to super glue it.....it came out ok, except for when I put the glue on, Danny was pinching his skin together, which he was wearing rubber gloves, and the rubber gloves got glued to him, we cut most of it off, but he still has a bit of rubber still glued to him. I'm giving him anti biotics and he should be fine.
Whew....what a night! Maybe we weren't meant to have animals....so many problems. As for the gate, we just switched the bolts around so they stick out on the outside of the fence.
