Greetings from a first timer. I have a 2006 FZ6 and within a few hundred miles I noticed that the the handle bars would vibrate and sometimes cause a little bit of numbness, but I figured it was just something that I had to live with. However, at the beginning of this season (at just over 10,000miles) I'm noticing a new vibration. It feels more like a very rapid 'tapping' on the handlebars especially when I'm in a top gear, maybe doing 60mph or so, and I release the throttle to just start slowing down with engine braking. So still in gear, no throttle, and no brakes yet. After reading through some forums I should probably mention that I'm running Yamaha oil 20-50w. I know it's probably a little too heavy but still safe for the temperatures I'm riding in. Should I switch to Amsoil? It sounds like it would cure the first vibration that I mention but I just find it hard to believe it would help this new vibration/tapping that I'm experiencing now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, first I'd ask when was the last time you changed your oil? Fresh oil seems to make all the difference. I'd dump the Yamalube and go with a synth of some sort, whether it Amsoil, Rotella, Mobil-1, whatever (I use Mobil).

Hi, I have a similar vibrating problem with my 2006 fz6. It has a 11000km on the clock and I just did an oil change. It previously had Motul (15-40), and now I run it with Silkolene 10-40 Full synt. So I still expirience some vibrations in the high revs, especially in first gear. Also I have some mild vibrations when I drive over bumps, I think it is the front forks.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Have you inspected your steering head bearings?

This being a new vibration and this not being a rpm related vibration but a tapping when you unload the system, that is one thing I would check. Its a known issue with this bike as well.

I have seen many threads about the vibrations and have seen just about everyone say they have it. I rode a lot of cruisers with v-twins before i got my first fz and i can tell you, even in top gear they will vibrate, but not as much as the v-twins..

I think this is the revelant piece of info from the OP.
