Throttle moves 2mm side to side on handlebar

I have dialed in my throttle so there is absolutley no slack, but it still moves from side to side, I am just now noticing, and can't help but think maybe a wheelie attempt broke something or loosened something.

How can I stop the throttle grip from shifting left to right? It is very slight, but I am crazy and it gets to me.

My throttle does the same thing, and it's been that way since the bike was new. There appears to be a small washer between the throttle grip and the kill switch housing, but my throttle still functions normally.


I'm curious to hear if this condition is normal.

No, I'm pretty sure that's normal. If the tolerance was much tighter it might not twist easily.

I have similar movement and it does not concern me, however i do notice that when the engine is shut down, and i move / tension the throttle and then release it I hear a click, and it feels like it scrapes over something. Trying to find out where this clicking sound comes from so it seems it is coming from the throttle body but not easily seen without removing the tank. Do any of you have similar clicking sound and if affirmative, is this normal. My concern is that this might be the reason that i find my throttle a bit jerky when completely released and then tensioned again, although many gusy say that this is normal for FZ6 and that practicing to be smooth will overcome this issue??

2mm side to side is normal.

If you want to tighten it up (not recommended), find some plastic washers , about 2mm(or make your own) to go over the bar itself (7/8"), inside the throttle assembly and place it inbetween the moveable throttle tube and the aluminum throttle housing. Then re-assemble. That'll take any slack out... It'll also increase your chances for a sticky throttle should you get some dirt/grit in there...

If something is clicking in there, somethings not right....

I have no idea. I just went to the garage to check it out again. I can only hear it when the engine is stopped even with the key in contact but not start position. And can only feel the click on the throttle grip when the engine is stopped? Once i start the engine i can not feel the click on the throttle grip and obviously can not hear it due to engine noise. Does anyone have this?

No clicking, but the lateral movement is normal, I have it.

I have about 1mm of lateral movement. I figured it to be normal...every bike I have had, has this lateral play to some degree.

Ya I figured I could do that, I just wanted to make sure my bike was not "special". I didn't think of the trottle sticking though.. sketchy.

I figure if I got rid of the lateral movement, my throttling would be less jerky or effected when driving in the lower gears say in a parking lot.

I don't think the side to side movement would make a difference. I do keep my cables with little / no slack which seemed to help with the on/off action at lower speeds. Kind of the nature of the beast, just takes some practice and getting used to..
