How do you prioritise??..what determines which bike you take out

is it weather conditions?,the group your riding with that day? or is one bike a toy and the other a commuter..how does it work for you?

this leads me to my second Q..If your an avid modder..how do you choose which bike gets the goodies??

I have a cruiser and the FZ6. When it was just the cruiser, it was my baby. When I got the FZ6, the cruiser sat for a week and I would ride it when I felt bad that it sat.

Sometimes, I buy something really cool for either bike -- that's when that bike gets a lot of attention and the other sits.

On cold days, the cruiser (with its big fairing) is preferred. On warm days, the FZ6 is preferred. In rain, either will do with the emphasis on the FZ6 with its Roadsmart tires.

Sometimes, I will really clean up one bike while using the other regularly. Then when I'm in the mood for a new bike, I switch to the clean one.

On maintenance rides, I will ride one and come home and then ride the other back to back. Either way, I have to ride both regularly because if I don't, my skills get better on one and they get sloppy on the other. But I know that riding two different types of bikes has made me a better rider of both.

You thinking of a second bike?

I sometimes contemplate a 3rd bike but the registration/inspections/insurance/maintenance is a pain and yet another freaking toy to care/obsess over would add too much stress and complexity to my life.

Sometimes I wish I could enroll in a bike exchange program where a bunch of us can swap bikes for a month or so and then back.

I love new bikes (i.e., different toys and not necessarily with 0 miles) and getting to know them and evaluating them, etc. I just don't like dumping the cash (you will always lose money) and then having to store the extra bike, etc. I think I think about bikes too much -- I need therapy :D. If I ever move to a warmer climate (than NH), a big part of it will be due to my riding problem :D.

heh..you got the bug pretty bad..i do have a second bike (click my garage)..but never meant to..i should of sold the FZ and bought another.BUT i bought the other bike and then put the FZ up for sale..6 months later the bike still didnt sell (i wanted serious top dollar) plus yamaha offer 0% finance on them.So here i am stuck with both..ive decided im not gonna keep both and will sell the TL at the first oppotunity.

Maybe if my second bike was a totaly different style (motard or full on tourer) things would be different.

Thanks for the insight..

I've got it easy. FZ6 for the roads, commute, and travel. XR650R for short jaunts down the road, dirt, and desert.

Modding wise, the XR is pretty much modded to the max; it's essentially a team honda baja 1000 bike. The FZ I haven't really done much with other than handlebars and FE, but I don't feel that it needs much more.

So now my money just goes to getting tires. :D

I have my FZ6 and a Ducati Monster. the FZ is more for touring and comunting the monster is the bike I take to the track and for when i really want to get after it on the twisty roads.

Mood and where I am riding.

If I am cruising along the beach - the Harley

if heading to the mountains the FZ6

both bikes are fun ... if my wife is going -- The Harley

if it is going to be a spirited ride the FZ6

The FZ6 for commuting and the Triumph Daytona 675 for spirited weekend tides and the track!

As for Mods, the Triumph has been getting them as it is new and the FZ was about as modded as I was going to take it unless I was going to dedicated track bike setup.

I use my Virago for just a little cruise around town, the FZ6 for the long rides and the 1125cr for fun. Each bike gets mods in the order I got them.

the dual bike thing is good/ bad.. for me i ride the tiger and the wife rides the fz, i can ride the fz mostly when i want but she cant ride mine as it is too tall heavy for her. so chooseing is not so bad. but modding on the other hand.. that gets to be a bit tricky as we have our cagers as well as both bikes and both of us have problems leaving things alone.

the best way i have found to do mods are to fist get the money, find mods cheap-cheap and buy the cheapest/most needed mod. ie. on her bike the signals in the front are broken so i got flushies cheap (ebay) and the trans in my 13 sec fwd grand prix is out but i can get another cheap so that will be next. and most of what i am doing to my jeep is free or very little, but i am rebuilding the motor for her camaro so it will wait longer, but i also had to fix a couple things on my pickup, and i think her lebaron will need a few things soon too. .. bottom line is the needed ones get the attention first (the dd's) and the rest get done price vs avalible.

The FJR comes out for road trips/winter riding and any LD riding, especially two up/and/or high speed riding.

The FZ comes out when I feel like sport riding and making some noise(Scorps).

My KLR 250 is my daily driver as it has a rear rack for carrying stuff and easily dodges most cages down here during season....

ive got the FZ a CBR900RR and a XR200. i ride the 900 mostly and my brother rides the FZ (until i can sell it) and of course the 200 is for the trail :)

I like my FZ6 for my daily work commute and I do not want to ride in the rain but on this bike it would be ok. The FZ is narrow and quick to manuver through traffic. I shave about 10 minutes off the commute on a bike.

The FZ gets all of the mods....maybe because it was the least expensive or the mods make it a better bike....I don't know.....I am looking to get some ASV levers, install the Steibel horn, black out all of the silver parts. All that is left to black is the rear sets, the triple clamp and the handle bars. I would also like to get a better seat, perhaps a TS trimmed in blue. There are lots of cool things to do to this bike and someday I might get to them

The Strat gets the least amount of love. It is the only bike my wife will ride on and we do not get out that much. I will not take it to work to sit in a grocery store parking lot for 10 hours. It will also not see the rain.

I have put on a couple of Yamaha accesories on the Strat but it is a cool bike as it came from Yamaha. I may get a Ultimate seat but its a lot of money for a bike that has only been ridden 500 miles this year.

I view my Buell as a potential collector because it is no longer in production. I think its value might be greater down the road if it is bone stock. I have purchased a few Buell accesories but nothing aftermarket. This bike will not see any weather other than 75 degrees, clear and sunny. I take it to work once and a while but I worry about vandalism or it getting jacked.

I'm fortunate to own three exceptional motorcycles: a 07 FZ6, a 96 BMW R1100RS, and a 2000 KLR 650 with the 685cc big bore kit.

In some ways the KLR is the most fun to ride. Its not really fast but it feels fast - 90kph feels like 140kph. Weighing a mere 337 lbs its a great handler on the back roads. It tours well, it loves bad roads, is easy to maintain, and well supported by the aftermarket (I've spent more on farkles than I paid for the bike). The KLR is a good adventure bike, took mine to the Trans Labrador Highway last year; and here in Nova Scotia there are countless dirt and fire roads.

My R1100RS is a stately old girl. A great long distance tourer, and a bike that gets a lot of attention. Since getting the FZ6 this past year the BMW doesn't get all that much use. I tend to take it out on the occasional day ride or to BMW club meetings.

The FZ6 is preferred for touring and for back road days. I've got the FZ6 set up nicely for touring and I find it a better and more comfortable tourer than the BMW. The Yamaha has turned out to be my main ride. I kind of have to make a point of it to take the KLR or the BMW out for a ride.

Of the many bikes I've owned over the years the FZ6 is my favorite.

MT01 when I ride pillion, the MT01 has a massive engine that produces huge torque for hammer-blow acceleration, a sports chassis that knifes through the turns, a pulsating exhaust note that’s total aural ecstasy and monumental styling that’ll stop the traffic.

FZ6 when I feel a need for speed, FZ6 is set up for my body weight so I dont lift my wife on the FZ6.

I ride the FZ6 for anything out of town. The ratbike is for around town only at the moment. I haven't got all the bugs sorted out, so I don't want to ride too far away from a bus stop.

The FZ is for the street, the Hawk is stricktly track. The Hawk gets most of the mods, the FZ just got the minimum mods necessary to make it my bike (PC, cat elim pipe, exhaust, eliminated fender, better directionals, etc.)

Having sold the Vulcan 1500 early last year, I'm down to the Fiz and a lil DR200 dual-purpose. The DR has been a blast for playing on local trails and dirt roads, no power for the street, but nimble at only 250 lbs. Fizz still gets the mod-money.

I have a Golwing and FZ6 (right now)

I commute to work in the summer on one or the other. Rain or cooler conditions, or when I have to pack more, I use the Wing. Also on long road trips or with my wife.

When conditions are more favorable or even very warm, it's just me, or riding around town/city I take the FZ6.

The FZ6 is pretty much stock so far but that will/is changeing. My Wing has usefull roadtrip/comfort related additions and has almost everything I want on it.

It used to be even more difficult to choose with the crusier in the mix :D ( and will be again, hopefully soon)

Now, they are parked for the winter where I live and I can only read posts and weep :( Of course this is when I start planning for what goodies I will purchase and for what bike.)

I have the FZ6, a Yamaha Venture and a Vstrom 1000 in the garage. Which bike I ride depends on my mood in the morning. The Venture is my ride of choice when I'm doing long distance. The FZ is my commuter/play bike. The Vstrom will be leaving the stable this summer. It is set up for serious long distance sport touring. I'm to the point that I prefer the comfort of the Venture for long trips. My son rides the FZ when he goes with me.
