I agree. If used for a real purpose then it is awesome stuff. But if it is just for decoration, kind of played out.

Yep, real is great, and a good addition to your bike....saves a bit of weight, depending on what you are replacing that is, looks great, etc....

But just every now and then a fake piece comes up that looks ok, and is'nt stupid...but not very often...

I have 2 pieces of small fake CF on my bike, and both look fine...but some people go nuts with it....i have in the past, and i always end up taking it off the bike!

Carbon fiber is used on race bikes because it's lighter than similar-strength metal or plastic; by laminating or sticking on CF on the already-existing parts, you're just making everything heavier.
Unless you're going for increased abrasion resistance, as Mr. Buck mentioned...

And the only beautiful CF is the copper-colored stuff on that HJC helmet..

I have a CF HJC helmet...your right the weave on those helmets is a work of art....very sexy indeed!

Plastic stickers contain real carbon, and lots of it.

They contain zero carbon fiber, which is what I'm guessing this thread is about.

And fake carbon fiber is gayer than a gay musical called "gay."

Lol! very good, hope that's not the back of your toilet door!;)

To me it depends on what it is being used for, if it's just looks and doesn't need the strength then what harm is it... (if your into the look) I wouldn't go for an all out either.

As for the weight thing, unless you really are worried about those few ounces that your adding to your bike I doubt you would ever feel the difference. I've heard of people who are avid bikers (bikecycle) who take off stickers to free up a few ounces. I tend to wonder if that is really what is going to make you loose the race, or if it's skill and ability.

I don't know if I'd ever do the CF route with anything I own.

That's true. I've read where some backpackers actually saw their toothbrush in half, and just take the bristle end...

Im personally not a fan or Carbo Fiber what so ever. face CF just looks really bad I would rather have babys puke all over my bike then fake CF. Also when you get CF bits and pieces from different manufucturers, the grade quality, color and viewe will be different, if i wanted that I'd buy a gixxer with famount light blue, dark blue, darker blue and white coloring :D

I guess i'm the only one who likes it on my bike.
I thank you all for not flaming me when I made a Thread about Playing with carbon fiber vinyl :ban:

I love the look of carbon fiber. But just like (.) (.), the fake stuff just don't look right. Nothing that magic about CF, you can buy the mat and resin and work it just like fiberglass. Make a mold, vacuum it....
