THANKS guy for help with the sale

With the short time my add was up for selling my 2007 FZ6 and the buzz it created thanks to the members here, I was contact by two FZ6 forum members in regards about the sale. One of them is a Yamaha mechanic and he is the one who bought the moto and said that because of the full service records I had it was good value for the money.

You guys rock and thanks for the hype to generate interest in the sale :cheer:

And know I am down to only my FZ1

The 10th digit of the VIN is a 7 so you decide. If they chime in great and if not that's great to.

Was there suspicion that his bike wasn't actually an 07 or did you not read his post? I don't get this comment.

There was a lot of controversy with the original add, 2 threads on the subject ended getting deleted because of the arguing, basic premise was all the photo's showed a 2006 model fz6 (ie. old style fairing, swingarm, instrument cluster, passenger pegs) but he insisted his registration showed it was a 2007 model. It never really got solved but I suppose it ended well with a sale.

Not saying he is lying, but he e-mailed me this when I inquired about buying it from an e-mail address:

"I do not have access to them right now. I am in Texas for work and will be home on the 31st of march. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I can accept that there are a few 2007 S1 specimens out there. It's not like Yamaha flipped a switch on Dec 31, 2006 at 11:59 PM and the factory suddenly spat out S2's.

The ad should have just been updated to say it was an S1 model.

I believe that is possible, but unlikely. If I were a dealership and all the "new 2007's" were supposed to be updated to the S2, I'd feel pretty angry if the factory shipped me S1's instead when my customers are scrambling for 2007 models BECAUSE they are supposed to all be S2's. :don'tknow:

Remember that they often release new models of cars/bikes at the tail end of the previous model year, so S2's should have been showing up on dealer showrooms in fall of 2006.

This reminds me of a Toyota pick-up I bought new in '74.When it was time for a new exhaust system the parts book read "if built before July 17 use this one if built after July 17 use that one."My truck was built on 17th,neither one would fit without alteration!The moral of the story?Factory paperwork isn't always right.Food for thought.My father was in Texas,close to the Mexican border, driving his class A motor-home when pulled over by a Trooper to check if he was smuggling drugs!His registration numbers came back that he was driving a motorcycle!Had a BMW on the back,.. but the guy running the license bureau was pocketing the difference in price between an RV plate and a motorcycle plate!He went to prison :rockon: (turned out he had a gambling problem) Rich PS:the dates in my story of my truck may not be correct,it's been many moons since then!The bike in question sure didn't look like a 2007 but unless we can see the paper-work??? We we're just going by picture posted.

Apparently people are losing a lot of money over whether this bike is a 2006 or 2007 and people are even cancelling their FZ6 forum memberships!

A guy named Barry White (or Berry White -- he isn't sure how to spell it) made a bet and paid up $1,000 for being wrong about this:

WOW someone has to much time on their hands. In that post there is no hard proof that is the bike in question or not?

Agreed on both points. This is just my plausible explanation for this odd case. Maybe the S2 should have been called a 2007.5 model as car makers sometimes do if there were some late production S1s. Earliest review of the S2 I could find was in April 2007 -- don't know when it was first shipped to dealers.

FWIW, my 2009, with a "9" in the VIN, was made in Nov 2008 according to the VIN sticker in agreement with your second point.

Five years after the FZ6 was discontinued in the US, "S1" versus "S2" might have more significance to informed buyers than the model year at this point in time.
