Tailgate joins FZ Krash Klub

That's rough...glad you're ok.

Chicago will reimburse you for damaged caused to you vehicle by unrepaired roads and/or construction. Anyone know if SF does anything like this? Longshot but...

I'm moving there and have often pondered what it's going to be like to traverse some of those steep hills/intersections. I'm not worried about stalling or anything, I'm worried about off-camber slow speed manuvers and rough/wet/slick surfaces in traffic. I'm thinking being 6'3" will help matters but shyt. I'll definitely pick my routes carefully when leaving the city 2up.

Good thing you were wearing "NEAR" full gear. Next time wear FULL gear! ;) Sorry, I can't resist.

Not a bad idea to ask, heck the give away everything in SF to people who don't pay taxes (needle exchange, etc.) so what the heck?

A friend of mine crashed his bicycle on a side walk that was under construction and the city paid for his medical bills and his broken bike.

Sorry to hear about your crash man, and glad to hear that you and your bike ended up okay.

Thanks for the pictures and explanation! It might just help one of us from having the same exprience.

Glad to see that you're okay and the frame sliders did it's job. Luckily the damage was minimal to the bike as well as yourself.

I live about 30 miles southeast of SF. after my first year of riding, that is the one place I'm afraid to take the bike. Eventually my desire to ride in Marin county will overcome my fear of getting there, but not yet!

sorry to hear about your crash. Consider it done now and put it behind you.

Pleased to hear you're OK, luckily you had crash bobbins and you had full gear on so the damage was minimized. Hopefully you'll be riding again soon

Good to hear you are ok and the bike got off with min damage thanks to the bobbins.Things could have been a lot worse if there had been a cable car running along the track behind you.

Yeah, that would've really made my day (if I tried to manuever immediately in front of cable car). I also imagine that the cable car probably would've lost a few passengers not holding on hard enough during an emergency downhill abrupt stop by the operator.

Glad that you are relatively unscathed mate, those flop and drops are so embarrassing and expensive.
Shame on you for holding up the tourist trade:spank::spank::D

No damage to the side cover, passenger grab rails, clutch lever, signals, mirrors? That's pretty good.

Normally when you go down, it's always the cowl, side cover, passenger grab rail, footpegs, hand levers, mirrors and signals.

It's disheartening when you immediately see the damage. After a few days, the scratches become a right of passage.

I agree oldtimer. I'm like saying to myself: "WTF?" Get out! I escaped with only this much damage? I can replace the left side cowl piece for $50 or order color match spray paint for $34. I'm going for the paint option.
