Question for the community:

I just got a new tailbag. In the most stable mounting position I've found, the straps go across the heat shield on the stock exhaust. Will it get too hot and damage the straps?

I'd sure appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with this.

Thanks!

Dave

The tailbag is a Nelson Rigg model CL85.

I have mounted it in a manner similar to the pics GTP Addict posted, so it looks like it should be safe.

Thanks!

I used to hook my rear bunges of my Cortech to the reflectors bracket on the fender and the bunges would rub against the heat shield. I rode like this for about a year. The cords never showed any signs of damage from excessive heat.
Since I installed my FE I now rap the bunges around the grips and hook them together.

I'll break out my infrared thermometer today and check but I don't believe the exhaust heat shields get hot enough to melt those cords. It's usually cool enough to touch without getting burnt.
