Speedometer Question

Have a 2006 and want to convert the speedometer to the new version like the 2007. Does anybody know if this can be done easily; wiring should be the same but worried about installation in the fairing. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need an 07/08 wire harness to make it work,but it will look out of place since the holes for them are totally different.

I heard from my bikeshop that yamaha dealer is able to do it, but expensive

You'll definitely have to modify the fairing, or install one from an 07/08.
The mounts are different, and so is the wiring harness.
Crazybiker has done this mod, and I believe he said if you can get a 07 headlight/speedo harness it'll be plug and play with the bike's harness.
