Getting my scooter ready for a 4 day journey with the boys, so I been
messing around with the MotoPak soft luggage set, and was not happy
with the way thesoft saddle bags drooped into the rear wheel area.

Did some reading here and came up with a real simple idea that seems
to work well, a support rod between the rear fender/license plate bracket
and the passenger foot rest bracket.

Fabbed out of stuff I had lying around: 3/8 copper tubing cut to 23 in.
length, bent 90 deg. 4 in. from the back end, flattened on ends and drilled
for mounting. Sanded and painted black to match frame. Added a stiffener
rod between the reflector brackets to prevent bending when bag straps
are cinched tight: 1/2 in. hardwood dowel also painted black. Pretty simple,
light, and changes nothing on the bike, comes on and off in 2 minutes.

Total time including head scratching and fab/painting about 3 hours,
total $ spent = 0....seems to work well at keeping the bags verticle.

Nice job with a useful result. I am finally going to build some support for my soft bags for an upcoming trip, I'll post in a separate thread when it's fully designed and built.
