SoCal Cinco de Mayo Ride

I would have rode to work today but this weather is a bit unpredictable lol. Are you guys sure its going to be a nice day saturday?? :BLAA:

By the way my neighbor should be accepting delivery on his 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 on friday. Im going to invite him out if he is interested, as well as a few harley riders.

The weather Channel says we'll have great weather Sunny and 80's in Borrego.
Sunny and 70's here! :BLAA:

Invites are fine! Just tell them we're ATGATT and bring water.

What the? Way to kill the enthusiasm by recommending Harley's go on a ride. Guess you won't be bothered by bug splats as you'll be going too slow, they'll just move out of your way and drink tea as they wave when you go by.:spank:

The Ducati will have to take it easy too as he'll have the break in period to tend with.

:BLAA:
OK, I'm in too! I don't have any plans until the evening :)
Yuh huh!!!!
So what about route? Do we have some OC riders coming down?

Maybe this? at the 79 split to go home?

CA-76 W/Pala Rd to CA-78 E/CA-79 S/Old Julian Rd - Google Maps

Looks like a great idea to me! We can have a pre-stage meet at Mira Mesa Blvd and 15 freeway Shell Station and then head up to 76. This way all the guys down here are together. We'll pull off and meet you at RB Rd. Shell. So far we don't have any OC riders in the mix do we? How about Ocean Beach area riders?

hahaha i know i know. The Harley guy is actually a room mate and i already told him if he wants to ride with me he has to put on more then the shorts and flip flops he currently wears. But its ok because he wont be coming out anyways, his gf passenger wont like going so far.

The Duc probably wont come just because he has to break in his tires too and its a completely different bike then his old bmw so he needs to get used to it.

OK, so what are the plans now?

I'll start a list...anybody missing??

Goop (Bryan - Speed 3)
Motogiro (Cliff - SV1000)
ba4x (Nick - FZ6)
Chomorro ( Phil - SV1000)
Sun Diego FZ6 (Luis - Daytona??)

That's what I like about this forum. It's for the Yamaha FZ6 and only one of the five riders has one.

Majdi. His name is pronounced Mejdee, he's in the navy and they nick named him "DogHouse" :D

Majdi didn't get the SV?

The motor sounded good and there were two guys there. One was supposed to have bought it the day previous but said he was too big for the bike so they never did the paperwork at DMV so he was just going to try to sell it for the other guy. He was a big guy but I noticed the suspension was so mushy I could bottom out the front just holding the brake and pushing down. The front adjusters were turned all the way down. He wouldn't let me ride it without money in hand. Majdi went into the credit union with the other guy.The motor sounded good and the guy said the bike was checked out at Fun Bike Center by one of the techs there and it passed with flying colors. There was no coolant in the recovery res.
From the very beginning the Big guy said, I know you! We rode together! Don't you remember?" I never saw the guy i my life!

Just another fast talker with a line of BS. Majdi was already in the credit union getting a check done for the deal when I discovered how bad the suspension was and I bailed into the credit union to tell him to not do the deal. Majdi did some research on what the guy was telling us about with reference to Fun Bike Center and no one knew anything about the guy. Not the techs..no one!

He was looking at another SV but it wasn't the one so he's going to wait a little. :D

What is he looking at? I know a local Guy selling a nice sv650s full fairing

I think your route is good but if we're going to do Palomar and no one is coming from Oceanside we might cut out the slabbing to reduce tire squaring and take the back way from your area. Then we'd meet at Rancho Bernardo Rd. at the Shell near the 15 freeway.

I think 9:30 would be good for kick stands up. We have a few people traveling from south county. I would like to give the people traveling to the meetup some extra time.

Here's the address and link to the Shell gas station on Ranch Bernardo Rd, just off the 15 fwy.

Shell, 16998 West Bernardo Drive, San Diego, CA 92127

We are doing palomar

Well i still know that guy with the silver sv1000s i was looking at. He took it off market to start riding it daily but he still wants to sell it.

Doug,
You also suck. In fact you suck Orange and Black! :Flip:

If I had to today and had the $$$ I think I would do a Super Duke I've seen a few out there and they look and sound great with great reviews. Can't wait to ride with you again! You'll be rippin it up with your new baby! :BLAA:

Cinco de Mayo - Ay de mi! -- Google Maps ~ 160 miles

Above is a "back way" to Palomar via Lake Wohlford/Rincon. It's a nice ride through there.

So:

Rancho Bernardo --> Lake Wohlford --> Rincon

Rincon --> Palomar S. Grade --> Palomar E. Grade (or maybe go back down S. Grade since it is more fun)

Palomar --> 79 --> San Felipe (S2) --> Montezuma (S22) Borrego --> Back up the S22 to S2

S2 --> 78 (Banner Grade) --> Julian (Lunch?) --> 78 to Old Julian Rd --> Ramona

Ramona --> 67 ---> Go our own ways.

Perfect! I like this idea! I haven't ridden those back roads yet. :D

I'm glad you guys know where you're going... I'll just follow along! :)

Meet-up time and place sounds good to me.

The LeoVince shipment finally arrived this morning... I'll be working on the bike tonight! What do you think, db-killers in or out for the ride tomorrow?
