The FZ is just about the perfect streetbike for me. Trackbikes are great on the track.

The only bikes I would replace the FZ6 with (and I'm tempted) are an F650GS Dakar or an F800GS. I had an F650GS in the past, and the Dakar would be great fun for a general utility and occasional adventure bike. The F800GS is pretty tempting, too, and the twin is a little smoother on the freeway...

There's nothing wrong with you. It sounds like you made a good purchasing decision and got a bike that fits your needs perfectly.

I'd like to ride an R1 someday, just to try it, but really don't have much desire for one at this point. I need more from a bike than just a weekend toy to ride fast on curvy roads, it also is a daily commuter in the summertime, something for relaxed touring-style rides, etc. While you can do anything on any bike, ours are intended to be do-it-all bikes.

The FZ6 is the heaviest bike I can pick up by myself when I drop it.

I'm not sure how many hp's I use most of the time. Because when you look at the power curve of our bike you actually still don't know anything about how many hp's we actually do use because that power curve is made with full trottle.
But I really don't need more power than I have now, so I don't have the need to buy a sportsbike. I just get crazy of those new cbr's ABS. That is just revolution!! That's something very usable for the common rider.
The market just reflects the needs of the bikers. And most bikers just want light supersports with a huge amount of (unusable) power. All the efforts of bike makers have been made into making bikes more powerfull for the last 20 years instead of making them more safe like car makers have been trying to do. That's why I just appreciate the efforts of Honda lately, they finally got it.
The perfect bike for me would be: a 1000cc 4 cilinder with combined abs, maximum 100hp and power focused on midrange rpm's, and a relaxed riding position like the fazer. And of course a nice design.

Nothing wrong with the Fz6. I have spent the majority of my riding years on the typical UJB from the 1980's. Most barely made 60HP, and I was totally content with the performance. You could wring the s*&t out of them and not have to worry about ending up in jail. The Fz6 was like jumping into another realm for me. Brakes that don't fade, suspension that works, no leaky float bowls and stuck floats, engine driven cooling fans that like to shatter at high rpm, the list could go on forever. Yes a R1 or a 1098 would look sweet in the garage, but they are not for everyday use. The only thing I can hope for is that some teenager buys a super sport and sends it cartwheeling though a field (rider ok of course). That way I can buy it cheap from the scrap yard, and have something to do next winter.
