Hi everyone,

Yesterday while travelling on the freeway I noticed a high-pitched whine which started at about 85kph (around 50mph) and stopped when I accelerated past 95kph (60mph). When slowing into this range the noise starts again, and stops when below 85.

I've only had this bike (2004 FZ6) a few weeks so this is the first time I've taken it on the freeway at a steady speed.

The tyres are both brand new Metzelers and appear to be balanced and aligned correctly - the bike rides straight without shaking the handlebars if I take my hands off the bars.

The noise stays the same if I pull the clutch in so I don't think it's from the engine.

Any ideas? Does anyone else experience the same thing?

Thanks,
Steve

might need a bit more description on the noise, but sounds like it is some sort of harmonics at that speed for you, might even be wind noise in your helmet...

You think maybe it was your wife riding pillion yelling in your ear to go faster?

So that's why it was accompanied by a sharp dig in the ribs.....

I'll investigate this further and let you know if I come up with anything. I think the harmonics angle sounds about right.
