simple guage protector

for those that have a couple of keys or a key ring that flaps around abit while riding, thee is some risk of scratching the guage cluster glass as I found a few weeks into ownership
simple solution: buy a universal phone screen protector pack cut a template adjust corners and angles and curves( the electronic tachometer/ fuel/odo has few straight lines on the S2. the speedo is circular with two arcs cut off it . transfer to the protector ,clean glass and apply
they last about 12 months before weather starts to sneak under the edges
hides existing slight scratches and guards against future ones

Good solution, though I never had that kind of a problem. But then again I only keep the ignition key separate from all other keys. Less noise from keys dangling in the ignition.

I think the culprit with my scratch was the disc lock key which is the only hard object on the key ring

Great idea and it's also applicable with other devices like camera readouts and MP3 players etc.

Only thing I keep on mine is a key-fob garage door opener - no scratches for this guy!

I stick a bit of plastic tubing over the other keys so they don't scratch. Protects the metal too.

Took this pic yesterday
the black arrows are at the ends of a scratch, I think I put there when I turned the ignition key and the disc lock key swiped the guage.

The red circles are dust specs I missed when I put this protector on and I was "fairly spewing" when I had done it as the cutting to size and shape had been fiddly.
the blue arrows show where some lifting has started due to weather getting in around the edges, but bear in my this is about 12 months old now and the reason I posted is I am about to re-do it

It might not be for everyone, but an ounce of prevention......

To ease application of these things, spray/wipe on a solution of water and clear shampoo onto the film before you put it on. Then just line it up and push the bubbles out with a card. If you overlap the edge, it will peel up like yours. Good idea!
