Saw this on a Dutch site but found an English link on MCN, it's a new invention by a Canadian designer:

I don't know if you can call it an invention yet more like an idea, according to the article it has t been made yet because he is looking for funding. It seems like a cool ideas but I dont know how well it would work in reality, say for instance a heavy traffic situation and another car smacks you like a soccerball into on coming traffic...
