I came across this on another motorbike site, but I thought it was pretty strange, so I thought I'd post it here.
Someone submitted this patent for a motorbike roll cage, with a "seat belt".

To me it looks so useless, and after sales of the BMW C1 didn't really take off, I can't imagine this catching on ;)

Were the BMW sales affected by the vehicle classification?
I thought BMW were trying to get it through on a provisional license basis. But it was deemed to be a car or something like that.
Now I remember it was also the helmet law that screwed it.

I would feel like I was riding in 2 heel cage! No where to get off if I needed. So the idea I suppose was to make a safer bike? I don't think it would be safer at all.

How about every driver just put down their cell phones and watch out for motorcycles (and other traffic)? Then the majority of accidents would be due to rider error...

This looks like the mythbusters improve the mpg of your bike mode by reducing air drag. I like my bike being open. If I want a cage, I will drive my truck

I'd probably fall off it laughing so hard,Somebody looked at their hamster cage and thought "I know what"...idiot
