Does anyone know if replacing the stock spring with one more suited to my weight would be worth the money?

I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs without gear or my (always loaded) rear box. I reckon there's another 10 lbs of gear and at least 10 lbs of stuff in my box. I have also been taking pillion passengers more often these days.

I know the springs on the bike were designed more for someone around 170lbs and not for a fat barsteward like me, but with the crap shock we have will replacing just the spring make much of a difference?

I replaced mine (along with the front's) about 3 weeks ago. I would absolutely recommend it!! It is remarkaeable how much better the bike feels with the new springs. It feels settled, stable and predicatable. I am 6'1" about 205 w/o gear. BTW: I went with the Hyper-Pro springs.

Thanks for the info. Did it feel a bit like it was sagging in the rear before the new springs?

I haven't considered the fronts yet. I like to make one change at a time.

What spring weight did you go with? Do they have a calculator?

I just saw the massive spring thread. I should use the search feature more. :spank:

I assume everyone is still happy with the new setup?

What do you do when you order them? Just send them your weight and riding style, etc... and they just send you the right springs?

Part of the reason I went with the Hyper_pro's was that there was little to do. The springs are progressive rate threefore no calculation needed. You simply tell them the bike make, model year and the entire package arrived with suggested starting pre-load settings to achieve a particular sag. Easy as you like.
