So my buddies all tell me that my rear signals vibrate/bounce around quite a bit while riding, even on normal roads. Has anyone tried anything to combat this other than going with aftermarket signals?

Do you have a FE on your FZ? Mine are bouncy too. It's because the metal I used to make my FE is thinner than the plastic fender and it gives "wiggle" room in the mounting area of the signal stalk.

Or are the plastic inserts that go inside the egg shaped rubber stalk opening missing?

I have the FEK that's made by a forum member. It's a metal plate. My signals bounced with the stock up and with the FEK. I'm sure it's due to the weight of the signals and the massive amount of rubber that's used to attach them.

I'd bet its a material thickness issue.
Watch your front signals to see how much they bounce. They are made and held in place the same way.

An experiment;
On a road with no traffic and at safe speeds, be more careful than curious!
Ride with the sun at your back you'll be able to see your rear turn signals shadow and watch em wiggle and compare to your fronts.
