So after 2 months of crud weather we are drying out a bit in Northern Ca and even with damp road conditions in the heavy shade it was time to take Frank out for a ride.
A local favorite road with 25 miles of twisty's is Mosquito Road out of Foresthill,Ca. With cliffs and drops hundreds feet to the river below, limited guard rails, rocks and other debris it's time to ride!
Destination will be the small Ralston Power House on the Rubicon River. It's a hydroeletric power generator using water dropped over 1,000' to be directed onto a pelton wheel that turns the generator. Out west they have these all over the mountains where they use the water from the Sierras many times over to create power through a series of dams and tunnels.
The details are 106,000 horsepower with the water dropping 1,250 feet in this vw bug size pipe. Looking close to straight up the pipe.

One final pic looking down to the river above the power house. I practiced my no hands 3rd gear coasting back down this road but had to go all the way down to 1st for the really tight stuff.
Sooo nice to get out today and enjoy temps in the 60's
