Gotta say I just love riding my bike...sorry if that's not thread worthy, but here it is. I just set a (personal) land speed record of 83mph, on my way to Ramona (San Diego Cty.) today, and damn proud of it!. Here are some pics of my beast, she rode well today....(sorry I don't have any action shots) Took the 67 which is a pretty sick windy road, especially for a newbie!...

Yes, it was from Powerbronze....superbikestore.com
I cost about $125, then another $75 to have it painted. I've thought about painting the belly pan also, but maybe that's too much blue...thoughts?

I think it would look good. Paint it. The Black and Blue is nice. There is not too much of one color in one place.

I have to see....as I'm trying to rest the bank account with Holidays around the corner. I'm kind of liking the YAMAHA sticker so far, and I bought the same ones that are on a R6 if I get tired of these I can switch'em
I'll probably wait a year, then paint it and lament not doing it earlier......which is fine too ;)

Sweet looking bike (blue is better!)

67 is OK to do a warm up or two on but once you feel comfortable on the bike head east on 94. Once you get to Jamul it's all twistie until you get to the end. If the weather isn't too hot and you feel like stretching the ride, get on the 8 going east until you get to S2. Take that north and head into Borrego Springs. From there you can head up to Julian and then back through Romana and into good old San Diego.

It's a pretty long loop but it's a great ride when the weather cools down a little. Just remember to ride smart, there have been about a half a dozen people that have had single vehicle fatalities out there this year.

That's a handy little tag you have: \"Remove before flight.\" Makes for some funny pictures!

The Tag may look funny, but it serves as a safety reminder for ME! I have some experience flying, and know the importance of pre-flight checks. I take riding with the same level of seriousness (in regards to safety).

I know we took the 67 past the sign that says..."Freeway ends". That's when it got fun and windy. In regards to the last paragraph, a Harley friend of mine I work with just had a near miss, "OH SHEET" experience on that exact road, couple of pick-up yahoo's racing two abreast....ran him off the road and into the grass....He's from NY like me, and swears he'll NEVER ride anymore in San Diego.....too many maniacs as he puts it....
I know there has to be a million roads out here to explore.....Let me ask you, have you taken that windy road up and back from Barona? I figure that would be sick, but a little leary of all the debris that collects...(sand,dirt,etc) and the really sharp turns.

I have but I get more concerned about the casino traffic than the debris. There are a number of casinos in the San Diego area and it seems like the drivers around them are always tinking of the big wins they are going to have and not what is going on in front of them.

There have been a number of accidents caused by people in cars/trucks doing dumb things on 94 and other east county roads but in reality most of the accidents are from the bikers going beyond their limits. I enjoy the rides and go fast enough for my personal comfort zone but some folks think this is a track and take chances thathey shouldn't. Motorcycles can pass in places the highway engineers deem unsafe for cars to pass but you still need to use common sense.

I think as you get used to the bike (and California drivers) you'l find that the back roads here offer some of the best rides around. I'm jealous of my eastern & mid-west FZ brothers when it comes to the forrests they have but I'll take the 365 good riding days a year anytime!

Proven fact of life-Red IS faster.

83? shift out of 3rd and have some fun!

Forget those eastern forests, I am 500 miles north of you and ride year round (except for a few quick snowstorms) in the most scenic forests in the world.
