Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give an update. My issue has finally been solved last week.
It ended up being the ignition switch. So not the ignition button, but the actual part where you put in your key.
I was already having issues with the key sometimes not turning but i read online that this seems to be a known yamaha issue so did not think too much of it. But a friend (handy mechanic) suggested to try replacing that after he took a look at the bike. And thats where it started, I wasnt able to find a seperate official part. Only a whole set with ignition switch, tank lock, buddy seat lock and the imobilizer unit. Costs of this set 1500 euro!!!!
I was a bit reluctant to spend that kind of money on this repair since I don't even believe the bike is still worth that much. I mean, I paid 3000 euro for the bike 10 years ago so it seemed a bit crazy to spend that kind of money. And also at this point we also weren't sure this would solve the issue as well.
So we chose a less elegant solution. I found a set of the locks without the imobilizer unit on ebay for 80 euro's and we built that in. I then ductaped the imobilizer chip from the old key to my new key and everything is working fine again.
Not the prettiest solution but it works for now, and it saved me a lot of money...
