Guys and Gals,

I am looking into a job position that is located in Mississauga Ontario and I have a few questions. Mostly questions surrounding the housing market, riding weather, dealerships, and the general area. If someone doesn't mind letting me bug you with a few questions just send me a message, I would appreciate it. Especially if you are Realtor ;) .

I grew up in a place immediately north of there called Brampton, and I've
lived and worked at some time or another in all parts of the GTA (Greater
Toronto Area) for many years, so I know Mississauga well. It is a huge
sprawling suburb immediately west of the City of Toronto. It will have any
modern convenience you could need or expect in a medium sized city.
Median home prices I'd say are around 300K. The city was created I'm
gonna guess around 40 years ago when several small towns were
amalgamated into what is now Mississauga. There are several pretty nice
areas, some not nice areas (like the area of Malton, home to the region's
International Airport). What Mississauga lacks in my mind is any sense of
history, or a down-town core, it's just a big sprawl. Like I said, it shares
a border with Toronto so if you're a city guy, Id live there. If you prefer
small town or rural life, there's lots to choose from nearby. The GTA is the
business and industry hub of Canada, lots of quality employment and a
great business climate (though it did take a kicking last recession). One
of my best friends in the world still lives in Mississauga and has a wonderful
life there, so despite what my opinions are, it can be agreat place. One word
of advice: learn about hockey, quickly :D And welcome to Canada

edit: about the weather, unless you are pretty comfortable riding in wet, cold
conditions, the bikes go away pretty much in November and return again in
March, from Xmas through to late Feb. there is NO riding unless you are freakin
nuts, spring is from March until mid May, usually wet, sometimes cool, summers
are fairly warm and humid, fall arrives mid Sept. and it usually starts raining mid
Oct. but you will get the odd decent day up until the snow flies

macem29,
It is actually quite interesting that you mention Brampton, because that seems to be where our home searches keep taking us. We would prefer to not live in the middle of everything so we are definitely looking at the outside of the main city. Brampton is only about 25 minutes from where I would work. So how would you describe Brampton? Anything important or unexpected I should know about before considering living there? How far do I have to go before I can hit some country road twisties? Do I have to have a garage to keep the bike safe and secure? Are there a lot of choices when it comes to Motorcycle dealerships?
