Petersen Auto Museum - vintage motorcycles

I was down to Disneyland with the family and took a side trip to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. My son is really into Hot Wheels and they have a Hot Wheels display there. However, they also have a number of vintage motorcycles, so I grabbed a few pics to post for you when I got back...

1. 1947 Jordan Twin Crank Four - prototype.
2. 1953 Norton Manx - very successful production road racer, overhead cam one-cyclinder.
3. 1982 Jawa Speedway - Czech four-stroke 500cc race bike. No brakes, gears, or rear suspension in order to save weight (!).
4. 2002 Gurney Alligator A-6 - conceived by auto racer Dan Gurney, limited production, 1 of 36 made. Designed to be sat "in" rather than "on" to improve cornering.
5. 1932 Harley Davidson - police edition.
6. 1912 Indian
7. Another vintage Indian - don't know the year (guesses?)
8. Crazy looking "bones" bike

The rest of the museum was awesome...from old Model A's to Deuseldorf's to the Batmobile to Steve McQueen racers to Delorean's to F1 cars.

...my son was a bit upset that I didn't include his pic with the Deore II. This is a real life version of Vert Wheeler's Deore II from the Hot Wheels movies. It's a fully functional and drivable car, including the Highway 35 surfboards on the top that serve no purpose what-so-ever other than the cool factor. Ok, it's not a motorcycle but give the kid a break...

I think your boys got it right. I'd take that sweet ride over any of those bikes
