very handy...it's every possible piece ever...

and im my experience OEM stuff tends to be cheaper than getting it thru a distributor as they have a markup. this way there is no markup from the middleman (which would be your local dealer).

so what im trying to say is ordering from here will be cheaper than thru ur dealer I think. double check tho.

the C is for canada. but just check the VIN to be sure

after you have picked the year and model and it opens the parts catalogue for that model, there is a list of options down the left side of the page...

hit the one at the top for "-MODELS IN THIS CATALOG" and it shows a set of VINs and explains which it applies to. the C is for Canada i am 95% sure about that (but not 100%)

I think "C" means California because regurations of emission are different from other states.

Europian model?? Yes possible if you can read Japanese. Sorry I don have time to make procedure written in English right now.

I had forgotten I'd signed up for this right after I bought my '06 last year. In looking through the maintenance schedule I saw something interesting and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed it?

It says to change the oil at 600 miles, then 4000 miles, then every 4000 miles after that. Ok, I knew that. But it indicates that you're only supposed to change the "Engine Oil Filter Cartridge" at the 600 mile mark, and not again until the 8000 mile mark, then the 16000 mile mark, and so on. EVERY 8000 MILES OR EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE??? WTF???

I've always been under the impression that with ANY vehicle, when you change the oil, you change the filter. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, does anyone ACTUALLY change their oil filter ONLY ever 8000 miles??? Just seems counter-intuitive to me.

No harm in changing out the catridge with every oil change. The cartridge is like $15.


Has anyone ordered parts from the catalog through YAMAHA directly? How were their prices?

Answered my own question - I called up Yamaha and they said they can't sell me the OEM parts. I have to buy from the STEALERSHIP.

In any case, the best prices I've found are from

www.carolinacycle.com

www.ronayers.com was a little more expensive.

I also checked out Ronnies.com and they were the most expensive.

So my bike I bought in PA is a California model...is this something the dealer should of told me? Is there any difference from the non California model besides emissions?
