My throttle grip will turn about 1/4 of a turn before it actuates the cable and begins to open the throttle. The grip itself is not slipping. Is there anyway to take the slop out it?

Thanks,
Patrick

in order to get rid of that much slop, youll need to start with the adjuster nuts down by the throttle body. if you kneel down on the left side of the bike, youll see the cable in a bracket in between the frame. grab a 10mm wrench and loosen the nut toward the rear. adjust the nut toward the front until you take out most of the slop. it may take a couple tries to get it close. once you do, tighten the nut.

then, go to the bottom side of the right handle bar. where the cables come out of the switch housing, youll see an adjustment wheel. loosen it, turn the adjuster (part of the cable sheath) until the fine adjustment is right, then tighten the adjuster wheel.

i believe the spec is 4-5 mm of play in the throttle...or whatever works for you.

Im glad someone asked this, I need to do this too. Mine seems to get more slack after heaving riding but its still much greater that 4mm play on cold start. Is that normal or what?

perhaps your cable has stretched, they do that over time. if its different compared to your last ride, then perhaps one of your adjustment points is loose, causing it to loosen on its own. the first place id check is the adjustment wheel where the cable comes out of the throttle/switch housing.

That's the unit on the handlebar right? and thanks prolly going to run out there with a wrench soon and check it out
