Anybody have any suggestions on what shape to make the top?

I'd shape it similar to this little screen..

only match it to the contours of the FZ1N headlight. I would only make it just big enough to cover up the speedo. Less is more, IMHO, otherwise why even go naked?

OK, here's the shape I ended up with. Threw some black paint on there to get an idea of how it will look.

Should I paint it matte black or do carbon fiber on it?

A very exciting project!

I think I would have made the top reflect the bottom shape to some degree, making the screen somewhat of a diamond shape. I attached an image of what I would have cut away.

Edit: Regarding color, I would not use matte black as the tank is glossy black. Use a more glossy black or carbon fibre.

Thanks for the input. I am working on body filler right now but the shape can be changed at any time before paint. I still have some paint left from the seat cowl so probably will go that route.

I didn't know what to think about it before, but now that it's finished, it looks rather good. I still don't think I'd put it on if I had the FZ1N headlight, but if I wanted a screen, that would be the kind that I would want.
