Learned that the rear break is my friend. Lol!
It helped since my GPS took me down a all gravel and dirt road on my way home.

Gravel is the worst!! Went for a ride today and we literally ran out of road! The highway we were on was milled down to broken asphalt, had about ten miles on it with impatient cagers riding our butts! :disapprove::disapprove:

Sorry to hear but glad you are OK and no big damage.

You have company (notice I didn't specify what kind)- a few months ago the former governor of Alabama went down on a wet gravel road in Alaska with broken ribs and other injuries. Last I heard he is planning another motorcycle trip.

Before he left on the ill fated trip to Alaska there was a photo of him on the bike (HD) w/o helmet. Alabama has a helmet law, sure it was just a photo op but he should have had some gear on.

Yes it is! loose surfaces and slow tight turns where your handlebars are turned.

But again, there are many riders here on this forum who don't believe on using their rear brakes so if they never use it, they may forget to use it in these sort of situation.

Sorry to hear it mate, bad luck and as you say, lesson learned.

I hate to be the one to say this but... Jeans and Timberland(style) boots? A worse drop and you could end up regretting it.

I agree with TripNip here. Grab yourself some good motorcycle boots. It really helps to cushion the bike during the lay downs.
Glad to hear you're OK!

Its a Go Pro HD camera. Yeah, it survived the crash. Somehow when I fell the back peg lifted up and the camera off button was pressed by the frame of the bike.
