I was riding along in the city at about 40 Km/h when a car infront of me suddenly used the breaks, i also used the breaks and thought it was a piece of cake but to my misfortune there was gasoline on the street and my bike instantly slipped and i crashed :( i feel ashamed, could have i done anything to avoid it or breaking over gasoline is an unavoidable crash ? I didn't actually see the gasoline on the street as i was riding :S

that sucks, glad to see your all good! Maybe next time don't follow so close? i don't know the details but that's where I'd start

I am hoping that your feeling 'ashamed' means you are not feeling any pain, and were not badly hurt. Ditto to TopPud, leave enough gap to see what is on the road ahead. I almost ran over a muffler when I was too close to a car that straddled the debris. I saw it at the last second, right in my wheel track, and was able to swerve to avoid it. We riders need time to determine road conditions...something cagers don't have to.

Gasoline and water would pretty much look the same through the visor. So I guess in an emergency braking situation, it is unlikely you could have done anything different. Keeping a further distance from the vehicle in front could have bought u more reaction time/braking distance but this is all retrospective stuff.

I'll say... Keep that attitude up on wanting to be a safer rider. You'll live to ride another day under better circumstances
