I've always subscribed to the 5 year rule. Over time the EPS liner gets hard and shrinks. When this happens the helmets ability to perform its primary function is compromised. I just purchased a Scorpion EXO 950 moduler helmet and installed a Sena 10R. I just need spring to arrive so I can get back on the road.

Just like most tires, there is a date stamp of when you're helmet was manufactured too.
